Kamaljit Virk is an Associate in our Litigation Team, where she focuses on asylum litigation. She graduated from the State University of New York at Buffalo with a B.A. in Psychology. She earned her Juris Doctor from Michigan State University College of Law. She is admitted to practice law in New York and California. Additionally, she was admitted to practice before the Supreme Court of the Unites States.
Kamaljit is an experienced attorney with a background in human rights, civil rights, and criminal defense. She started her career in New York as a Civil Rights Advocate for the Sikh Coalition, and later joined the New York City Commission on Human Rights as an Agency Attorney. Additionally, she has several years of experience in immigration law, in business and family-based petitions, as well as in removal and asylum. She also worked in private practice and represented clients in general civil and discrimination matters.
Kamaljit is committed to the success of each of her asylum clients. She is an avid reader of international news and carefully follows the development of human rights claims and laws. She follows technology news, with a focus on the uses of AI, and the corresponding ethical, liability, and civil rights / liberties issues. Her hope is that, in a small part, her asylum work contributes to an increase in freedom and fairness.
