Denise Flores received a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of California, Los Angeles, where she studied Political Science, Latin American Studies, and Spanish. She spent one semester interning in Washington, D.C., studied abroad in Mexico, and worked with two programs focusing on academic outreach. Prior to law school, Denise worked as an English teacher in Madrid, Spain.
While in law school at the American University, Washington College of Law, Denise worked for the Center for Human Rights and Humanitarian Law, the Criminal Justice Clinic, and a small civil litigation firm. As a member of Action for Human Rights, she worked at the Orleans Public Defender Office.
Following law school, Denise worked for a civil rights litigation firm, focusing on Title IV of the Civil Rights Act and Americans with Disabilities Act claims.
