Antonella Demartini was born and raised in San Francisco, California to an Italian immigrant family. She graduated summa cum laude from the University of San Francisco as the School of Arts & Sciences valedictorian from the winter class of 2003. She majored in Latin American Studies.
Antonella became fluent in Spanish after studying abroad in Tijuana, Baja California, Mexico at the Universidad Ibero Americana, and in San Salvador, El Salvador, at the Universidad Centro Americana.
During her undergraduate years, Antonella became interested in immigrant rights while working for the Department of Justice as an employment authorization document clerk. After graduating from the University of San Francisco, she worked in the food service industry for Pier Restaurants, Eurest Dining Services, and Bon Appétit Management Company. Working alongside undocumented workers furthered her interest in immigrant rights.
