Anna Benvenue graduated magna cum laude from the University of Georgia (“UGA”) with a Bachelor of Arts degree in American History. At UGA she was a Presidential Scholar, a member of Phi Beta Kappa, and spent a term studying abroad in the Semester at Sea program.
After college, Anna spent two years with Teach for America in San Jose, California, obtained her California State Teaching Credential from San Jose State University, then taught fourth grade for a third year.
She graduated with highest honors and in the top 3 percent of her class from Golden Gate School of Law in 2008, where she was the Managing Editor of the Law Review, a Peer Mentor, a Moot Court Board Member, and wrote a law review article on the rehabilitation failures of the former California Youth Authority. She won awards for legal writing, constitutional law, business associations, evidence, and appellate advocacy.
While in law school, Anna interned with the Tenderloin Housing Clinic, the San Francisco District Attorney’s Office, and Minami Tamaki, LLP. She also served as an extern for the Honorable Judge Thelton Henderson of the United States District Court for the Northern District of California.
After graduation, Anna was hired through the Attorney General Honor’s Program to work for the Department of Justice as an Attorney Advisor at the San Francisco Immigration Court.
At the Law Office of Robert B. Jobe, Anna’s practice focuses on defending people in deportation proceedings before Immigration Judges, representing clients in appeals before the Board of Immigration Appeals and the federal Courts of Appeal and in lawsuits in federal District Courts under the Administrative Procedure Act. She has successfully argued multiple cases before the United States Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, including Ali v. Holder, 637 F.3d 1025 (9th Cir. 2011). She particularly enjoys cases involving past criminal convictions and alleged ties to terrorist groups.
In her spare time, Anna enjoys road biking, going to the beach, and watching college football. Originally from Atlanta, Georgia, Anna has been residing in San Francisco since 2002 and loves the weather and culture of the Bay Area too much to return to the South.
